Rio San Antonio Cruises’ Gathered Enough Food to Provide 10,000 Meals
The spirit of giving inspired Rio San Antonio Cruises to partner with River Walk and downtown restaurants to gather canned and boxed food that Rio Cruisers collected each Wednesday this past November.
The tally is in and the cumulative effort resulted in the acquisition of food to feed 10,000!
“We want to extend a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to our very generous supporters during this campaign. The numbers are staggering with the amount of children, adults and seniors in San Antonio and surrounding counties that go hungry. We are grateful for the partnership of our businesses along the River Walk, as well as throughout downtown and the community who donated food to help fight hunger in the Alamo City and beyond,” says JoAnn Boone, CEO/President, Rio San Antonio Cruises.
“Together, our contribution will impact 10,000 lives. River Walk and downtown businesses such as Bohanan’s Prime Steak and Seafood, Boudro’s, Hard Rock Café; Havana Hotel; Mexican Manhattan; Cafe Ole; Michelino’s, Lone Star Café, Original Mexican Restaurant, Republic of Texas and the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce joined forces to make our first “Rio Sweep” to benefit the San Antonio Food Bank a success,” added Boone.
“When people come together – individuals and groups- to hold food drives or host special events, their contributions are extremely valuable and vital to our mission,” says Eric Cooper, CEO, San Antonio Food Bank. “No one should go hungry during the holidays. Our need is great, but so is the opportunity for everyone to make a difference.”
