RIO SAN ANTONIO CRUISES GARNERS MULTIPLE AWARDS IN RECOGNITION OF EXCELLENT SERVICE
Rio San Antonio Cruises – the company that has successfully operated the iconic barges that float the waters of our Riverwalk for more than 13 years – has recently won multiple high profile awards for excellence in service.
In May 2016, Jeff Quinn, a Rio San Antonio Cruises barge driver, was named the 2016 San Antonio Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) of the year. “With more than 1,500 CTAs in San Antonio, it was quite an honor for Jeff to win,” said JoAnn Boone, President and CEO of the company, adding, “The CTA program is a national travel program in which all of our employees are certified. It says a lot that Jeff stood out among the many ambassadors considered.”
Additionally, Rio San Antonio Cruises was recognized as the 2016 Charter Company of the Year for San Antonio by Luxury Travel Guide for their consistent record in excellence across all sectors of the affluent trav
el and tourism industry. This recognition was determined by representatives from across the globe that designate the best in a variety of travel-related categories.
That’s not all! The company just received the 2016 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor. To qualify for that designation, Rio San Antonio Cruises had to maintain an overall TripAdvisor rating of at least four out of five with a minimum number of reviews. This is the second year running that Rio San Antonio is awarded this distinction by TripAdvisor!
Further, USA Today Travel named this highly successful Rio San Antonio Cruises one of the top 10 boat rides in the United States for 2015.
Recently, the river barge company earned the CNG (Compressed Natural Gas Award) Trendsetter Award from CPS Energy for its use of natural gas in barges, which is widely considered to be environmentally friendly and clean for our Riverwalk.
“These awards are a wonderful validation for us,” said Boone. “They are not taken lightly and only se
rve to motivate us to continue offering the superb river tour experience we always have.” As CEO and owner of Rio San Antonio Cruises, Boone operates this increasingly successful business in partnership with the City of San Antonio and employs more than 115 full and part-time staff. Boone deeply cares about the community, the environment, and most importantly, her staff that is out there every day making lasting impressions.
The company is knocking it out of the park in social media rankings as well, having received the following: 4.6 out of 5 rating from Facebook; 4.5 out of 5 from TripAdvisor; 4 out of 5 from Yelp, and 4.4 out of 5 from Google.
