It’s Time to Fight Hunger, Feed Hope — Together!

The San Antonio Food Bank serves approximately 58,000 people in need each week.  Additionally, they distribute more than 60 million pounds of food a year to individuals, families, seniors and children struggling with hunger – a number that sadly grows even more during the holiday season.

Today, Rio San Antonio Cruises is inviting you to join the San Antonio’s Food Bank initiatives and fight hunger. Our goal? Simple. Collect food and cash donations, and bring more awareness to a plight that affects many people in and around Bexar County.

“The numbers are staggering with the amount of children and adults in our very own city that go hungry,” said Rio San Antonio Cruises, CEO/President, JoAnn Boone. “San Antonio is our home and we believe wholeheartedly in the mission to end hunger in the Alamo city.”

 How Can You Help?

Please join Rio San Antonio Cruises and The San Antonio Food Bank during the month of November to collect “the twelve most wanted foods” — peanut butter, cereal, tuna, beans, rice, mac & cheese, chili, canned stews, canned soups, canned luncheon meats, full meals can/box and pop top food items.

Every Wednesday in November, from 2-4pm, you will see our Rio/Food Bank barge come by for the “river barge sweep” right to your closest dock and pick up all donations for disbursement to the San Antonio Food Bank. Together, we can make a difference.

“No one should go hungry during the holidays.  Our need is great, but so is the opportunity for everyone to make a difference.  Please join this timely and important effort,” said San Antonio Food Bank CEO, Eric Cooper.

 Make a Difference
Your donations of food, and/or cash, will help the San Antonio Food Bank feed the low income, elderly, children, homeless and those experiencing temporary emergencies from our very own community. Know that 98% of all donated resources go directly to hunger relief and every $1 helps provide 7 meals.

Let’s help our community fight hunger.  Let’s show them that businesses along our River Walk and Downtown care in a very special way, and give to the “river barge sweep!” Together, we can nourish and strengthen our community.

Tis the Season To Be Giving,

JoAnn Boone
