When booking your event, please reflect on the City of San Antonio’s Accessibility Map links below and work with our reservations staff to ensure the best boarding options.
For our narrated charter tours that utilize our passenger only configuration:
We can accommodate two wheelchairs on each barge. Boarding ramps are available.
Many of our riders with mobility impairments choose to transfer into seats and sit with companions/family members. Barge drivers reserve the seats closest to the boarding area and make reasonable accommodation on a case-by-case basis. If a passenger prefers to remain in a wheelchair, a chair can be placed next to them for a companion.
Persons with visual impairments may request a preferred seating location. The tour is narrated by our talented drivers and broadcast from multiple locations on the boat.
Persons with hearing impairments are provided with a written tour script with photos of the points of interest. If someone with a hearing impairment would prefer contracting an interpreter, that can be arranged directly through Deaf Interpreter Service, Inc. at http://www.deaf-interpreter.com/
With a 24 hour notification, any barge can be configured to accommodate a group tour with multiple wheelchairs at no additional cost to the customer. Depending on the size of the group, we can reconfigure the barge by adjusting our bench and rail seating to create more space for wheelchairs.
For our Dining and Cocktail configurations:
If necessary, all chairs may be removed for Dinner Barge configuration to accommodate wheelchairs. Dinner Barge configuration can have all bench seating and rail seating adjusted. A ramp is available to move persons utilizing wheelchairs from the loading deck to the dinner table. Ramps are not considered ADA compliant with a 1/12 pitch, however, each guest needing the ramp is assisted by staff members much like the wheelchair assist required while boarding a plane.
The City of San Antonio keeps maps of accessible routes throughout the River Walk area with walkway routes and construction projects.
